About Good Work Austin

Good Work Austin (GWA) is a socially responsible community of local businesses in Austin invested in creating good jobs for all workers, ensuring a quality workplace, and supporting and amplifying the voices of like-minded businesses. We value cooperation, inclusion, shared opportunity, equality, and fairness in the operation of our businesses. We began as a group of businesses uniting to work with the Austin City Council to write Austin’s Paid Sick Leave ordinance, and we continue to work together on creating a supportive environment for employers who want to do the right thing for their employees, communities, the economy, and the environment.

GWA’s primary goals are to provide support, education, and resources to all businesses and their employees through a robust website complete with toolkits for nurturing diverse, welcoming workplaces. Our members are local, independent, small businesses that understand the value of working together to strengthen the entire community. We believe that true success is not only measured by the bottom line, but by a sustainable and healthy work environment as well.

GWA is a model that can be replicated in cities across the state where small businesses want to collaborate, grow their business, and advocate for a sustainable future, and we are committed to creating good work for Austin and beyond.
