What’s Next for GWA
Thank you for your support of Good Work Austin during these challenging times. Throughout the pandemic, and in the aftermath of February’s storm, we have been inspired by the ways that our community has stepped up:
When schools moved online, GWA and local restaurants were there to provide over 750,000 meals for our partners at AISD and an additional 600,000 meals for Austin Public Health and other partner non-profits.
When millions of people in Texas lost power during February’s storm, GWA and our partners answered the call to prepare and distribute 90,000 meals in two weeks thanks to the generous financial contributions of so many of you.
GWA continues to enlist the help of local restaurants to deliver nutritious meals to pantries, senior centers, and shelters in our community on a daily basis.
Not only do we work to feed our community, we do it by supporting the local businesses that make our community special. Our community kitchen model invests in small businesses, improves the lives of those that work in our industry, and distributes nutritious meals to Texans in need.
A Resource Hub
We serve as a resource hub for our restaurant partners that want to raise wages and improve benefits, and we help them access mental health services, economic empowerment resources, financial literacy workshops, and more.
A Non-Profit Café
Good Work Austin’s growth and impact would not be possible without your support, and we have exciting upcoming projects that we want you to know about. We now have two full-time staff members dedicated to expanding our reach, including through a new non-profit café that will open in 2022.
The café will allow us to:
Continue to provide meals for those in need.
Employ people in our community.
Help workers gain the skills and experience they need to find jobs.
Connect workers with GWA-affiliated restaurants that pay good wages, offer benefits, and provide healthy workplace environments.
Serve great food by collaborating with the talented chefs and restaurants affiliated with GWA.
